In the Montreal area: Team CN will join the Terry Fox Run in the Old Port at the Marché des Éclusiers, (400 de la Commune St. West, Montreal, at the corner of de la Commune and McGill) on September 17 at 8:30 a.m.  Our goal for this year is to recruit at least 50 CN participants to walk or run as part of Team CN. Back in 1979, before Terry Fox Runs existed, maybe even before some of you were born, a group of CN railroaders in Port Coquitlam, BC discovered that one of their teammates, Rolly Fox, was struggling to cover his work shifts while his son Terry faced the unimaginable: the amputation of his leg following a devastating cancer diagnosis. Rolly Fox worked at CN for 36 years in the Winnipeg and Vancouver area. His colleagues did what CN'ers do when faced with adversity: they banded together and found a way to cover Rolly’s shifts so that he could stay by his son's side in the hospital. 

This spirit of togetherness and of helping one another during times of need lives on at CN today.  Terry Fox believed that if every Canadian donated $1, we would find a cure for cancer. On behalf of CN railroaders past and present, and in honour of Rolly and Terry’s legacy, CN has made a generous donation to the Terry Fox Foundation to support high-impact cancer research by the Terry Fox Research Institute and the Marathon of Hope Network of Oncology Centers, active in all 10 Provinces. 

We invite all CN railroaders, past and present, to join forces through the CN Employees’ and Pensioners’ Community Fund to participate in a local Terry Fox Run. Our goal is to raise $1 for every CN railroader across our network. As of June 2023, more than 25,000 railroaders were employed by CN. Help us reach our goal of raising $25,000 and CN will MATCH your donations, dollar-for-dollar, to double our impact until September 30.  

A tax receipt will be issued for donations of $20 or more.

We also strongly encourage all CN railroaders to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation through the CN Employees' and Pensioners' Community Fund. By using the “Give to activity” button above, 100% of your donation will be directed to the Terry Fox Foundation to help fund cancer research AND will be eligible for the CN matching contribution.
